CSI Case File # 212

Another pretty case file from CSI!
http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-212-case-closes-on-september-23-2016

(follow this link to check out the other DT inspiration!)

I have used some new papers from Blue Fern Studio - Seaside Cottage - they are ALL so pretty. I made my own gel for the stencil, using Finnabair 3D Gel and some Primary Elements Powders in Emporers Gold. For the centres of the flowers, I used some Liquid Pearls (different brand, same stuff...) in gold of course!
I am a little disappointed hat there is such a blue caste to my page... it is plain white!!!

BLISS.

Scheme: All colours used
Evidence: Solid background, Shiny Gold Elements, Flowers, Clock       Element (does the photo count?), Clip, Liquid Pearls.
Testimony: Schedule - or lack there of!!!

A couple of close ups...

This clock hangs in a bar in Sanur Bali - and to me it sums up time spent in Bali... unless you count trying to 'schedule' in a massage, facial, pedicure - or a rest at the beach... or shopping!

We would love to see what you come up with... come and play along!

Cheers, Vicki

CSI Case File #210

When I first saw this case, I felt pretty sure I would use buildings somehow.... I did a background, creating a mosaic effect, I had triangles, stripes.... and I HATED it!!! lol New plan below!

The colour palette in this case is so pretty... I just had to use a 'pretty' subject - and my scarves are gorgeous!!

Delightful.

Scheme: All colours accounted for.
Evidence:  Grid or Check Pattern (stencil in background), Transportation Accents (flower cart), Circles (abstract flower shapes), Animals (the duck!)
Testimony: My opinion... of my beautiful scarves!  (this is pushing the boundary a little!) lol

I had fun cutting up some paper with the pretty round abstract flowers, then I found some nice little bright stickers and the cart with the duck - all complimented my design and colours.
For the background I stenciled the paste, and when it was dry, painted over it with Silks (from Primary Elements) and the sprayed some Lindy's and let it drip down the page.
I ended up trimming the white cardstock, because I felt I needed a border of bright paper, and then added my jouranling as an extra border!

Lovely case file CSI!!!
Cheers, Vicki

Kraft + Tassle Time - August Challenge

http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2016/08/august-challenge-tassel-time.html

I couldn't help but use this photo of my mum....

Such Pretty Tears...

I love this photo of her - even if she does not look happy!  I imagine her costume looked just adorable on her... in full colour...  and unfortunately she can't remember what colour it was - she did point out to me that it was 80 years ago!!! lol
I think the reason is that she didn't like it!
She was not happy, and was sulking -
she just wanted to be a fairy!!!

She also said that Grandma had the photo in a frame which was kept on the mantlepiece.  I wonder if it made Grandma smile - or grimace! lol

I gessoed the bottom part of the Kraft and sprayed some gorgeous Lindy's spray in Witches Potion Purple, so it would drip... (like tears). Still in the background, I used Tim Holtz's beautiful Flourish stencil with Colour Blast Colour Paste in Royalty....
yummy stuff!
I added a pretty Blue Fern Frame, a couple of flowers, gems and pearls - and of course the tassles!  Th German Scrap border strip with the tassles was a lucky find - in the shop!!! I had to add the 'fairy dust' (Prima Art Sugar) and the Prima stamp around the edges which says.... 'just a sprinkle of fairy dust'. hehe

Thanks to Kraft + for a great opportunity to use this precious photo!

Cheers, Vicki

CSI Case File #208

http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/

The file is beautiful, and I happened to have the perfect images...

I love it when I get a case file, and know exactly what I want to do... then just have to make it work!
I tend to be a tad 'literal' and the map of England immediately made me think of my daughter, who is currently living in London!

Here is my take - sorry these look a bit dark - the background is actually a bight white!!!  Dark winter days...

Madly in Love

Bree came back home (to Austrlia) for a 3 week visit in February and gave me the best gift ever!!! She had collected a small box of travel memorabilia from her time away - and even better - a usb full of photos!
I had tickets, brochures, postcards... she knows me well!
I am taking that to mean she wants me to scrapbook her memories, and she can add the journaling whenever she likes!

Here are a couple of close ups... you can see the texture paste here better... I used a TCW map stencil.

I have used a couple of 13 Arts papers... they are so beautiful, the words that I have cut out are cut from a piece from the Mental Vacation range, and the peach pink with the hearts (in the background) is from the Starlight collection. I am blessed to stock these in my little shop...

Scheme: All colours used.
Evidence: Chevrons (on one wooden polaroid frame),  Map Print (the stencil along the bottom),  The clouds and the architectural elements are in the photos! (does that count??), Travel Accents (all the memorabilia and the stamps around the top of the pages), Other animal (butterflies, cut from the 13 Arts papers), Filmstrip (small wooden embellishments from Scrap Matrix!)
Testimony: My journaling is about this lovely gift from Bree, which is perfect on many levels for me... the list includes: something lovely to scrap, keeping me up to date with her travels, beautiful photos, a way to keep and store her memorabilia, the fact that her giving me this (probably) means she would like me to scrap with them! Which is a lovely compliment to how she looks at my beautiful hobby... way of life. lol.  I have written this on the back and included a postcard where Bree can record her own memories.

Well, this case was perfect for me and I think I solved it!!

Thanks for looking!
Cheers, Vicki

Kraft + Sheet Music - July Challenge

http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2016/07/july-challenge-kraftboard-3-sheet-music.html

Isn't this pretty?  There is a lot of choice here for your inspiration - as long as you have some sheet music included...

I took inspiration from the prettiness, the roses and the hearts... and of course the sheet music - in the form of a stencil with paste - a few little charms and some little handmade music scrolls.

Hush Little Baby

Some close ups... I used a CWS music stencil, some gorgeous Prima resin hearts and flowers, a Blue Fern chippie, some muslin - and Thickers for my title, with some old Basic Gray stickers. Oh, and I bordered my page with some yummy Riddersholm papers!

(and I forgot to lighten this up a bit - not much sun today... and I have run out of time - for a change!)

My beautiful little Breeanna... who didn't like to sleep much!  Most days she was awake, and miserable... I found it so hard to get her to relax and sleep.
One Monday night, I was beside myself, and her crying was getting me really upset. Dave used to be gone from 8am til 10pm on Mondays during this time - and my days were very long with my new baby!
In desperation at around 7pm, I turned some music on - and UP!!!!
I will never forget, that when she actually took a breath, she heard the music, she tensed - and then immediately relaxed and fell asleep!!!!
So, new routine found!
I held her and we listened to music until she fell asleep... and I have Madonna to thank for Material Girl - Bree's favourite track! I did this for 9 months... and she got heavier and heavier - time for a new routine then - it was called 'controlled crying"... but that's another story!

Great challenge Sandra!
Thanks for looking!

Kraft + Puzzle - June Challenge
http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2016/06/june-challenge-its-puzzle.html

The week this challenge was released, I also received a box in the post... the Taj Mahal of all cat posts... for my very active kitten, Eva.  Being the strong independent woman that I am (stop laughing), I was looking forward to putting this together... all on my own - and looking forward to that feeling of pride and accomplishment!
Hmm....
Anyway, it was quite obvious to me that this was a very challenging puzzle for me... and so the page was created... messy, out of control, puzzling.... eeeek!
Here is my take on the
"Puzzling Kraft + Challenge"

Are You Kidding Me?

I have had these chippie puzzle pieces for years... and also used some Blue Fern Chippie, Prima stencil, Art Basics Light Paste, 7 Dots word stickers... and I also tried some of Finnabairs new Rust Paste set - thank you to Lynn Good for the loan... now I probs have to get them in, love the effect!

Great challenge - AGAIN - Sandra Wallace!
Cheers, Vicki

CSI Case File # 200

http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/

Well, these colours (and the image!!!) frightened me a little bit at first, but also made me think of this photo of toucans (are they?), that Breeanna took in Bali... 5 years ago...

I had actually thought of using a gorgeous Blue Fern paper that was the perfect colours - and it had birds on it... but seemed a bit busy for my photo....
In the meantime I got the GORGEOUS New 13 Arts papers in the shop.... and the rest is history..

Park Life

(no cages for us!)

The photo was taken at the bird park in Bali, and it was such a beautiful place, you could tell the birds were happy!  As opposed to those that are perhaps kept in cages in zoos... Park Life truly is amazing... (journaling on the back of the page)

Scheme: all colours accounted for
Evidence:  Grid pattern (chippie), Circles (patterned paper & stamping), Bricks (stencil), Metal, (bird cages), Buttons (centre of the flowers), Stamps (stitched circles).
Testimony: written on the back... about how awesome and amazing these wildlife parks are for the birds and animals that get to be looked after in such a free environment... not to mention the amazing colours of these beautiful birds!!!

The base paper is 13 Arts, from the new Out of The Blue collection, and the papers layered behind the photo are from Studio 75 - the Splash It collection. I love the TCW stencil I used - Tuscan Wall...

Case solved - and not so scary after all... from someone who doesn't love primary colours...

Thanks again CSI for making me think further than I normally would...

Cheers, Vicki.

Kraft + April Challenge

Kraft+ Black & White

http://kraftpluschallenges.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/april-challenge-black-white.html

How good does the black and white look on the Kraft????

I just had to play along... and I really love my page!
I used some older chipboard, vintage lace, german scrap, washi, ribbon, flowers and of course - a little bit of bling!
Black and white gesso, a stencil and some paste...

It is Not Always Black & White.

My 2 kids are (and always have been) really good with and for each other. They really could not be any different, but they are both awesome!
I am pretty sure Zac photo bombed this photo of Bree
- but it turned out to be one of my favourites...

Great challenge again from Kraft+!!
Cheers, Vicki

Kraft + March Challenge

Use the sketch and a hint of houndstooth...

So, I used ONLY a hint of houndstooth! So literal, me!

You will think that the sketch looks a little different to how mine turned out... I flipped it around - and I stretched it to make the double, but have definitely followed the basic design.
Can you spot the HINT of Houndstooth?

I love the textures, details and design of all things Bali... I took these photos at various restaurants around Sanur... from wall art, walls, garden features - and even a door!

I have used some Studio 75 paper from the Kraft Love range, some very old chippy letters, gorgeous Prima and Petalloo flowers, Scrap Matrix vintage lace, Primary Elements mica powders (with water)... and lots of gesso!

As always, a lovely challenge from Kraft +!

Cheers, thanks for popping in!
Vicki.

18th March

A couple of challenges from January...

I am always inspired by the Kraft + Challenges as well, and have created a couple, but because I never blogged - I never actually entered them!  I just enjoy playing along... and the challenges give you a place to start, can push your creativity and inspire you to try something you may never have before!

The challenge was Going Postal...

And I saw this challenge for Off The Rails and knew straight away which photos I wanted to use... again, not entered, but soooo much fun.

This was the mood board... but I kind of 'Scrapped The Boys"!!!
There are so many cool challenge sites around.... something to be inspired by each month!

Cheers, Vicki

25th September 2015
Never published at the time either!

CSI Case File # 177

Insert case file here!!!!
I loved this palette also.... even with the red in it!  I have never been a fan of 'primary colour' scrapping - not that I don't admire others who do it well... It just doesn't seem to happen for me!

Bali

Scheme: All colours accounted for.
Evidence: Book pages, mushrooms (on my book paper!), leaves/stems (green crystal stems), animals/insects (glass domes with dragonflies), book plate (for title).
Testimony: I chose Document an Unusual Place... while Bali is not unusual (!), the array of stunningly beautiful flowers and wildlife there is breathtaking!  I never take photos of flowers at home - unless I have had unusual success in my garden. lol. However, in Bali, I snap away constantly at the beauty of them all...
I have used 7 Dots papers... yummy!
I ended up adding so much more evidence.... of my own. lol
I love the delicacy of this flower, and wanted to highlight that with pretty lace, doilies and filigree.
All from my stash and Scrap Matrix.

Some close ups...

So happy with this page!
Thanks for the colour inspiration CSI!
Cheers, Vicki

Never published - and not even finished properly, but here it is!

CSI Case File # 176

Insert file!!!
This palette threw me for a bit... but I had a flip through of some older photos, and found this one, which (because I am so matchy matchy - worked perfectly!)

My World

Scheme:  All colours accounted for.
Evidence: Music pattern (paper), music elements (vintage trinkets), hearts (paper), oval (chippie frame post for title), flourishes (part of th eoval frame post), borders (pretty plain, but I have used cardstock in blue to frame the entire layout..)
Testimony: My World.  I played on the title You Are My World... because they are!

A couple of close ups...

I love camera elements, and I used a variety here... a bit of chippie, a couple of wooden and a resin. These suited this layout particularly because this photo is part of a huge series I took of the kids in 2000, ready to create a family calendar for 2011.  The plain background (dirty old drop sheet) made it easy to edit around the images of the kids and insert them in other scenarios....

29th August 2015
This was never published - oooops!

CSI Case File # 174

This challenge was right up my alley - I loved this colour palette!
And I wanted to try some techniques on a dark background, so once I collected some evidence and started playing - I was very happy with my result!

Dream

Scheme: All colours accounted for
Evidence: Globe & travel accents (metal charms and resin embellies), chevrons (texture paste with stencil), tape measure (a bit hidden under the background, but I used an Ikea tape measure!), leaves (ribbon), something woven (mesh - and is lace 'woven?), key/lock (metal charm).
Testimony: I documented on my hidden tag... in the form of an invitation    inviting Bree to take every opportunity that is offered her, or that she helps make happen. An invitation to explore, dream... follow her passion....

A couple of close ups...

I gessoed the brown cardstock, and did the texture paste first. Then I added some Lindy's sprays, the tape measure and the mesh as the basis of my background.
My photo (of one of my favourite subjects!) created the tag pocket, then I layered all my goodies...
All of these bits came from Scrap Matrix!  yay!

Loved this challenge - thanks CSI!

Cheers, Vicki

I am back!  AND so far behind!!!
When I shifted last year, I created a self enforced ban on blogging... just because I needed to concentrate on a million other things... packing, organising, closing and reopening my business (in South Australia), packing, stocktaking, getting my scanning program up and running, packing, unpacking.... and I was still trying to get my CSI cases solved and uploaded. A girl has to MAKE time to create!

Anyway, I still have loads to catch up on, still unpacking, restocktaking (because the scanning program locked me out on my 2 open days... grrr), getting workshops happening in Victor Harbour, ordering and unpacking new stock (YAY!!!)... and welcoming new customers to Scrap Matrix!
Seriously, I should still not be blogging - but I am!!!

I am including some recent CSI cases here, and from now on will do them on time again... that's the plan, because to be honest, I will probably never really catch up on all the cases from last year...

case #178
 Case #179
 Case # 180
 Case #181
 Case #183
So much fun - I can't tell you how much I love solving  these CSI case files!

Thanks for looking, Cheers, Vicki
