Scrap Around The World Challenge April

How beautiful is this mood board???  Could not resist joining in on this one.

And I had the perfect photos, taken on a Bali trip in 2010 - and I have never got around to scrapping them.

Here is my take on the challenge...

Relax Sam, Just Relax

I used Kaisercraft paper, some Blue Fern Chipboard and some Scrap Matrix as well... Prima stencil Lindy's sprays, some glass bubbles, a bit of bling and Thickers for the title.

Here are a couple of close ups...

Love how this turned out.
Thanks for a beautiful mood board Scrap Around The World!

Cheers, Vicki

1st May

Scrap Matrix Sponsors Kraft + this month!

Thanks to the lovely Sandra for welcoming Scrap Matrix to be involved.  We love the Kraft + challenge site - and challenges, and have incorporated them into our regular Texture Challenge Tuesday workshops.
Last month the studio saw a couple of 'new challenge enterers' join in the Kraft + fun, and I hope even more will this month.  I would love for the sponsor prize to be won by someone local.
I challenge you Darwin Scrappers to enter! lol.

The prize pack is $50.00 worth of Scrap Matrix goodies... they might just come in handy next month!

This month the challenge board is right up my alley - beautiful rich tones... a bit girlie, a bit rustic... well that is how I interpreted it anyway - you may see it differently!

Here is the challenge...

And, yes, mine of course is a double.... but I had to use all 3 photos - they were the only ones we took! Plus, they were already printed, just waiting for this challenge perhaps?

Treasure Special Moments

My friend Bronwyn came to visit at Stokes Bay and it was so lovely to have her. It was like we had never been apart... We have never lived geographically close, so each time we spend is precious.

I love the main photo of her, she looks so relaxed and beautiful.  Then there are the other 2 photos.... just us being as silly as we were when we were in high school together!

Here are some close ups...

I was attracted by the image of the old books, tied with string, so the first thing I did was add some book paper and find some string! I cut some circle (rock!) shapes from the 7 Dots paper and added some filigree metal pieces and the string to tie it all together.  I used some pretty pearl brads and also some micro gold beads and some black chipped glass (inspired by the beaded bracelet).
Then I splattered some black acrylic paint and some Lindy's golden spray and added some stamping to the background.

All products were supplied by Scrap Matrix - of course!

The photos were taken at Middle River on Kangaroo Island 2009.

Thanks again to Sandra for a fabulous challenge!

20th April

I am so excited!!!!

I am so happy, overwhelmed and amazed!!!

I am on the best design team ever!!!

You know how much I love CSI, right?

Sorry for all the exclamation marks...
but I am soooooo excited to share this news!!!

I have kept this news for a few days now, and I have been busting!

I am a Detective!!!

I am on the CSI Design Team!!!!!

 - did I mention that?????

And this is my badge!!!

Anyone that knows anything about my scrapping world, will already be aware that I have been addicted to this challenge site since I discovered it last year.

I was blessed to be on their Under Surveillance List with my very first challenge with them, and couldn't stop smiling for a week!
Then, I made their Most Wanted List and was a Special Investigator for a month, which was such an honour...
and now (!!!) I am on the team!!! And have never used so many exclamation marks on one page before in my life!

I love CSI!

Colour. Stories. Inspiration.

I love everything about it!

I encourage anyone who is the slightest bit interested or even curious about challenges, to check this site out - it is so much fun! (And can be challenging!)
Here is the link:

The friendly community, the web site, the inspiration, the attention to detail, the format of the challenges... the creativity and variety that each challenge provides and produces...
and especially the creativity that is inspired in me!

I impatiently look forward to each case reveal... and it was the thing I missed most when I was under my self imposed creative ban earlier in the year!

And, now - I am part of that team!!!!!

My term runs from May until October, so my first case will be File no 163. Released on May 1st.... hope I can solve it! I best get some evidence collected....

Stay tuned!
( I still can't really believe it!!!)

Cheers, Vicki

 Case File # 160

CSI Challenge

Loved this case file, the colours are so me!
I followed the sketch as well, but flipped it, because it worked better with my main photo.

Here is the case:

My take on the challenge..

Potato Head

The Scheme: All colours accounted for.
The Evidence: Travel elements  - camera, world globe, the 'explore' tag. Frame - the photo of me. Flowers - on the patterned paper (tag). Transparent item - clocks. Resin accents - cameras. Decorative border - patterned paper.
The Testimony: I have journaled in 3 spots (2 tags pictured, 1 tag private). It also is trip related.
The Sketch: Flipped the sketch upside down.

A couple of close ups....
See my tags, tucked behind the globe?

A Fabulous review of this gorgeous place...

The cluster of little embellies

I coloured the Prima resin with metallic rubons.

How amazing is this place? It is in Seminyak, Bali, and is the place to be at sunset with a cocktail in hand, watching the spectacular colours changing in the sky.

You can swim in the pool, with water cascading over the pool edge, almost seeming to be a part of the ocean.. You can choose from several menus - for a snack, a meal, or just (delicious) drinks. You can sit 'inside' and let the speakers vibrate your belly, or you can sit under the sky on lounges and sunbeds or 'in' restaurants. You choose - if you are there early enough to have that freedom.
Something for everyone... whatever your Purpose!

The building itself is a half circle shape (very amphitheatre like), open to the sea view at the front, and this is the view from the back - the one you see when you arrive. Spectactular!

Loved solving this major case.
Thanks CSI.

Cheers, Vicki.

16th April

Kraft + (take 2!!!)

Yep, this is my second go at this - I blogged the first one, but didn't end up entering it in the challenge... I just wasn't that keen on it...

So, this is the challenge....

And THIS is my layout which I will upload to the Kraft + site!

Together - On Top Of The World.

This is how I used the recipe:
All colours accounted for.
Washi tape - silver chevron, layered with the paper
Silver - covered in the above (washi tape)
Spots - blue paper, white spots
3 tags - 1 above, 2 to the right of image (private journaling)
Stamping - light around the edge
Cotton - stitching it all together!

AS far as the Retro theme goes - just as a coincidence - the skirt Bree has on did belong to my mother and Bree found it and claimed it - from the Dress Up box!

I can only upload a 12 x 12 image, so this is what will show for the challenge....

And here are some close ups.....

The photo below was taken for a particular reason.... Bree's small cousin loves volcanos, and the kids loved the way she explained how they erupted. So, we took these photos for Ellie, with Bree and Chris re enacting her actions. Too cute!

These photos are quite bittersweet to me... the photos were taken in January this year, in Bali, where I met up with Bree and Chris.  We had a lovely 4 days... and then I had to say goodbye to her (them!) because they were on their way to England - to MOVE TO ENGLAND!!! Which is fine for Chris (lol) - he is English... but my baby loves him, and is moving there with him!
It was really lovely to see them... so happy and in love, and starting their amazing new life together - BUT.... I will miss her (them!). They really do seem like they are On Top Of The World!!!

Thanks for popping in!
Cheers, Vicki

PS. This was actually take 3 - I forgot to add my cotton!

9th April

Kraft + April Challenge

I quite liked this challenge - when I started!

I knew straight away which papers I was going to use and had a plan!
I enjoyed the process, but not the result so much!

I used Graphic 45 Typography and a photo of my new journal, featuring a blank page.   I think I have ticked all the boxes, but am not loving the silver/bling business with the G45.  I couldn't get it to work.... the bling is supposed to be the creative magic and courage pouring out of the journal as I play in it!

My New Art Journal

And some close ups....

However, I have started another one, that I think I might like better...  we will see!

CSI Case File 159

http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-159-case-closes-on-april-9-2014

I have nearly left this until the last second! It scared me!!!!
It is so pretty, but I think it was the blue....
Anyway, I have recently bought myself some (very expensive!!!) water based wax crayons, so I decided to give them a whirl.... so much fun, and so relaxing. Of course, I didn't have the exact colours, (should have bought the bigger set lol!) but a bit of blending and I was happy with the result. And I am very pleased with how it all came together... quite quickly after I started. Who knew?

Here is my All Good layout, based on this case.

Scheme: All colours accounted for.
Evidence:  doodling (with water crayons), flowers and leaves (fussy cut and paper flowers), grid pattern (Kaisercraft grid stamp), stamps (grid and lacy diamond), jewels (hat pins and bling), decorative border (added colour to the already beautiful border on the Prima paper), love accents (a couple of hearts and I spread the title (almost) across my photo.
Testimony: I journaled into the border of my cluster, and used the word Love, which also features in the sub title at the bottom left corner.

Here are some close ups...

And some of the supplies I used....

This turned out so much better than I thought I could make it!
Loved the challenge of it all!
Another case - solved!

Cheers, Vicki
